The State Library of Victoria is Australia’s oldest and busiest public library. The central library of Victoria, it opened in 1856, the current structure of the State Library is 23 individual buildings that continue to change dramatically as the years go on.

Environmental sustainability is a priority alongside maintaining the constant temperature and humidity levels required to protect the Library’s historical displays and ensure comfort in the reading rooms and event spaces. This means very precise heating and cooling is essential which relies on an extensive network of pipes, pumps, boilers and chillers; and complex building management systems.

The Library’s expansive collection includes over two million books, 350,000 photographs, manuscripts, maps and newspapers. As these materials are organic, it’s key that humidity and temperature is controled to ensure they don’t expand or contract due to moisture.

Following site mapping the ACE Platform was deployed and continuously monitored 377 different data points at the site producing 13,000,000 data records per year.

“We were really impressed by the work that CIM put into understanding our operations and producing an ACE Monthly Dynamic Fault Report featuring over 80 immediate ‘fixes’, which we can make to reduce energy wastage and associated costs”
